Volume 4 is by Jeff Brent, a jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and author of “Modalogy” and other acclaimed jazz theory and education books.
My only issue is that there are several typos I discovered within the first minutes of reading through it.

It is very well written and helpful for the serious jazz student. Requires a student who already has a good knowledge of music to be able to understand this book.

It leaves jazzoogy out, but I’m not really sure if that’s to its benefit, as it has to cover everything from intervals to post-bebop improvisation.
Some other reviews found online: It’s beautifully printed and bound with that really nice binding system that O’Reilly use for their technical books so it stays open and lies flat. I have to say, I wish I had gotten this instead of getting Levine’s book years ago.
