Not heavily laced with Zen Buddhism but just enough for a foundation of spiritual understanding. Learning to let go of judgements and entitlement may be very useful in finding happiness, regardless of any hardships you’re going through, or anything particularly difficult or distasteful about your situation. It has some very practical exercises that will not only be the impetus for change in your perspective, but also a life changer.

The practice of forgiveness seems to be a vital piece of finding contentment, yet it is overlooked in many other discussions of finding happiness. You might like it better than I did.
He challenges us to come into the present moment and ask “what is blocking happiness in this moment”, to relax our resistance, and fully enter into our lives, whether we are stuck in traffic, dealing with a screaming infant, or sitting with aching shoulders during a meditation period.
But I also see nothing wrong with taking up meditation to further a life of contentment. I kept zoning out while listening to the book.
This is a lovely book for advanced students of Buddhism. Baydw I surrender to this present condition? Somewhat actionable, but the content seems somewhat amateur, so not sure how much stock to take in his words.
