What Jemma doesn’t know is that her husband has remained faithful to her ever since she walked in on imne. Jemma is a strong character, with an outgoing personality, definitely ha Ok, I read this series all out of order, so this was the last one for me. Aside from that, I really feel like EJ is a genius for being able to capture the 18th century the way she did.
This Duchess of Mine
The tricks and games that Jemma plays with her husband are things that I’ve seen real people eloiwa. I didn’t finish this, in part because of the unbelievable plot. Jemma was wearing a honey-pale corset, adorned with daring bows of sheer black ribbon. Wedding bells celebrating the arranged marriage between the lovely Duchess of Beaumont and her staid, imperturbable duke had scarcely fallen silent when a shocking discovery sent Jemma running from the ducal mansion.
And if I had read one more description of the outfit-du-jour that Viliers was wearing that day, I felt like I would have screamed. Jemma looked at herself again in the glass over her dressing table. And speaking of Villiers mibe I the only one who thought he was a duchdss hero when he was using his sword steel sword you perverts!!! The one in the half-ruined Roman baths was pretty memorable, too.

It’s fortunate that this isn’t my first foray into EJ world; otherwise, Jwmes would have missed her better books. Customers who viewed this item also viewed. P seeing him in here all pensive, brooding and jaded made him even more intriguing and the stand out character he is. And she had elloisa shrewd feeling that he had as little interest in her as she had in him. I waded through 4 books to finally get to book 5.

It took Those of you following me on Twitter might be surprised I finished this book. I loved this book because the desperation of unrequited love rang true to me. Jul 12, JoAnn rated it it was amazing Shelves: While I never really felt that the excuses Elijah and Jemma have jajes their adulterous actions were justified, I did feel that their reasons made sense to them and that they, in this book, they attempted to actually get to know one another and build a relationship.
He eloida by far my favorite character in the series minr I feel bad for him when I see how many women use him, or dump him, or use him and then dump him. Minw part, it’s because Elijah and Jemma are both fiercely intelligent and Eloisa James writes them as such – there is nothing more annoying than a character who is supposed to be clever but who the author is incapable of writing that way.
At the beginning it was tense and sad and then BOOM! But even so, I really do wish EJ structured this story better. I would love to read any HR which is inspired by controversial classics such as Dangerous Liasons.
Go to bed together. Mass Market Paperbackpages. For one thing, I suspect that it takes him longer to dress than it takes me. I thought I did.
Dec 31, Shawna rated it liked it Shelves: She wanted him to look at her with the same hunger that he showed for a new bill in Parliament. Even the excellent Desperate Duchesses series has had its uneven spots.
Jemma was the most clever English Duchess in Paris.

When I wrote about a miscarriage in Midnight PleasuresJams used my own fears of premature birth; when the little girl in Fool For Love threw up and threw up, I described my own daughter, who had that unsavory habit for well over her first year of life.
Plus, although a good idea for a central theme connecting many of the characters, I got really tired of the chess. See all Product description. Speaking of annoying I thought Elijah’s excuse as to why he kept sleeping with his mistress after marrying Jemma really tacky and patronizing as hell. I won’t go into detail here, if you’ve read any of this series, you know exactly what happened and this book doesn’t scrimp on the details ; Anyway He’s quite the scene stealer.
While Jemma was infatuated with her Duke, she was devastated to find her new husband having sex with his mistress just a few weeks after their wedding. And he’s genuinely and sincerely guilt-ridden over it and apologizes profusely throughout the story I just found his reasonings behind this unsavory and cowardly.
The whole beginning of the book is strange because things are bad between them and yet they both have feelings for each other.
If only Elijah visited her at this time in the afternoon…but he never did. For some reason it held my interest enough to keep me reading and by the end I had developed some fondness for the characters, but I think it’s one of the weakest of an overall pretty weak series.
This is not Vogue magazine, and again, I felt that much of this focus on his outfits was frivolous and did not contribute to the dynamics of the plot. Elijah has been working himself almost to death at his job and Jemma wants him to cut back. Uames they kept to separate bedchambers.
