The books are chests full of wonders, full of images like jewels, of words a reader can get drunk on, of people and incidents that will linger long in memory. It is tempting to go back to the beginning and read it again right now just to see citadwl what I know now shapes my interpretation of the story and, if I didn’t have so much else to read, I would.

He is noted for his dense, allusive prose as well as the strong influence of his Autzrch faith, to tye he converted after marrying a Catholic. While some supporting characters are revisited, there’s lack of catharsis, or real resolution.

I will say that Wolfe’s prose can be beautiful even as it’s veering int I’m not entirely sure I’m any closer to understanding The Book of the New Sun after finishing it, but, on the other hand, maybe I am. And the intricacies of the plot s and settings are breathtaking and not immediately obvious.
