oomarr I wrote a great, long for me review about this book. Miles, Mutants and Microbes. But she was abruptly too weary to try anymore. And of course it was fantastic fun!
Some of the Barrayaran plants she’d started were particularly touchy about their illumination. Following directly upon the events of ‘Memory,’ ‘Komarr’ still functions as a stand-alone novel.
Now, the solar mirror vital to the terraforming of the conquered planet has been shattered by a ship hurtling off course. It’s fun to think about them, to see them through another’s eyes Actually, I wonder if the underlying practical reason was that an underpopulated world just couldn’t spare her labor.
And while it’s a subdued and conflicted Miles, which put me off the book at first, it’s a solid picture of his first outing in his new role as Imperial Auditor, almost a physical weight of responsibility on him, which makes the tone entirely appropriate, if not nearly as much fun as the earlier, manic Miles.
It’s the only plant I brought to Komarr from Barrayar. Ekaterin glanced up warily, wincing at that dry edge in his drawling voice, but apparently it slipped past Tien, who only snorted. Even the staid official newsvid reps were badgering everyone involved in the investigation; the arrival of not one but two Kkmarr Auditors on-site in Komarr orbit had not calmed the fever of speculation, but only redirected it.
She rescued the glass. Some aspects of the futuristic culture are attractive and some are not kind of like real life. Her limited experience of the breed suggested that if you could get them sufficiently sloshed, it wouldn’t matter what you fed them.
Miles love, Ekaterin is not a woman to make him shine. Silence fell, as they both watched the last glint of mirror slip behind the komaarr. When she arrived behind him, he was already being half picked up by the stout, white-haired man who seemed to fill the space. This book will never be a favorite, but it’s not a bad read by any means and it introduces a major new character, Ekaterin, who will komard a key role in Miles’ life going forward.

However, I’ve come to appreciate it for what it is: Eketarin Vorsoisson, Vor to the core, oomarr asparagus, and not only that, she’s tall, brunette, and coolly reserved, until her son is threatened. And it may be superfluous to say about a Lois McMaster Bujold book at komafr point, but I liked this a lot. Who was really the senior member of the team? I like to call mys 4.

The choice is not a popular one on Komarr, where a betrayal a generation before drenched the name of Vorkosigan in blood.

I always get irritated with female characters who allow themselves to be victims. Just trust me this is a great book. His clothing was entirely without the pseudo-military ornamentation usually affected by the high Vor, but the perfection of the fit-it had to be hand-tailored, to fit that odd body-hinted a price Ekaterin didn’t dare to estimate.
Three of the six disks of the star-flake shone not at all, and the central seventh was occluded and dull. But not today, not Nikolai. These two reasons resulted in one less komxrr of a perfect rating. And it will all be fixed, and no one will ever know. See more in my review of the komar Miles in Love three books in one:
