My heart is always troubled when I read his works. This is one of his best. As I was reading it, I had to take a look at the release date because it felt like Tozer was speaking directly to the Church today.
Many very good books have numerous sections that I will bracket or underline so that I can find them quickly in the future. The collection was originally published 60 years ago, and while some parts show their age, many of Tozer’s insights are poignant and applicable to the modern Christian’s life. As I read them, I got the distinct impression that Tozer had not sat at the feet of other great Christian teachers when learning of the Faith, but rather that he had sat at the feet of The Teacher, the Holy Spirit.
It is in true humility where we are awestruck by whom God is.
