I wanted a White tea book, and the mysteriousness of Sage’s home life kept it interesting. He’s torn between loving Sage and not wanting to admit that Sage isn’t all woman. This novel is tough to rate. She’s vibrant, more than anyone else in this book. Excerpts are provided for display purposes only and may not be reproduced, reprinted or distributed without the written permission of the publisher. In contrast to I Am Jin which the plot centers around J’s efforts to get the therapy required to start taking hormones, this book doesn’t even mention them until Logan sees Sage in a bathing suit and his head almost explodes.
Maybe the author, a white male, didn’t feel like he could or should speak for her.

Girls this strange didn’t exist in Boyer. Well, more like gouging a piece of shrapnel out of my stomach, pouring a bottle of gin into the wound, lighting it on fire, and sewing my guts up with a dirty bootlace. Oerfect sister loves her, has stuck up for her when her parents were being dicks and has supported her for her entire life. In fact, if it wasn’t for Logan I may have perrect this book four stars. In a small town, having a new student is exciting. But I still had criticisms and I will continue them below.
I mean, this is her gender we’re talking about here. Logan doesn’t find out till p. It’s a sobering moment, and it makes you think twice about the people around you.
From a very young age, Sage has gender-identified as female. Everything in this book was all very real to life.
That’s probably just something that bothers me I actually almost stopped reading it. Issues of transphobia almosh discussed but in katchrr embodied way. This book is great, but difficult to read. The football field was by far the best feature of Boyer, Missouri. I’d rather read a book about a trans woman, not how a cis male perceives her.
This book is a mess and a disappointment. She’s not a secret meth-head, nor was she busted for prostitution. I absolutely love this book. Sage’s struggle to be herself and live as the girl she knew she was touched my heart.
I would not really want to recommend it to a trans teen. I’m glad I read this book, so I can know what I’m talking about if any of my students decide to pick it up. Do we really know what we would do or how we would handle katfher

He’s got some serious violent tendencies. As a queer reader, the tension between identifying with Logan fairly likeable, pretty well-developed, sheltered, first-person narrator and identifying with Sage “spoiler”: Enraged, frightened, and feeling betrayed, Logan lashes out at Sage and disowns her.
She’s tall, with curly red hair, freckles, and braces. High-school senior Logan is stunned when outgoing new girl Sage reveals she is biologically a boy after they kiss for the first time. I shouldn’t have compared you to Logan.
The one thing that ruined this book for me was If I was going to hate her, it would take some work.
Af OmG, this book was so frustrating to me! After he comes to terms with this, of course, someone else finds out about Sage’s secretly.
